File sharing on the web

i understand that lawers and everything are trying to stop file sharing on
the web but at the moment is it legal in the uk???? because surely it is too
good to be true honestly.

You should consult with your local authorities/legal counsel for the answer
to this. Or JFGI. In any case, your question doesn't have anything to do
with the Windows Vista Operating System.

I don't know of any country where file-sharing, in-and-of itself, is
actually illegal.

What is illegal in many countries is the sharing of files without the
consent of the copyright owner.

So if you want to share so cool photos you took, that would be OK. If
you want to share a song you wrote and recorded, that's cool too.

You want to share a song, that you do not own the copyright to, and/or
you don't have the permission of the copyright owner to share that song,
then that not cool.

This is generally how it works in most countries.

Where it becomes tricky is when you download content that someone else
has shared without the permission of the copyright owner. That question
is still legally unanswerable in many countries.
