File-Sharing Issue

Herb

Have 2 home-networked 'puters using a LINKSYS router. Both systems use
Win2K version 5.00.2195 Service Pack 2.

Everything works great with respect to file-sharing except for a single
glitch --

On the 2nd computer, I am ONLY UNABLE to open/access MS Word Docs
(version: MS Word 2000) from the 2nd computer for files located on the
host computer. Yet from the 2nd computer I am able to access MS Powerpt
and Excel files located on the host puter; just for some reason, cannot
open MS Word docs.

I've checked the "share" properties, but am obviously not doing
something correctly.  Not  a computer expert by a long shot, so clear
steps are appreciated in your response.

Thanx for any suggestions. Feel free to copy me directly at
(e-mail address removed)

Well one issue could be that word is unable to create a backup copy of the
file. Check the permissions on the share/folder and in word check the file
locations that it wants to use.
Can users save a New word document to the location in question?
What errors are you getting?

'Word' folder properties 'sharing' tab on main computer is set to 'share this
folder'. Security tab allows all permissions to "Network" , Everyone" , Guests
and Users  -- ''full control'' and all other options are checked.

On 2nd computer, when I try to access Word docs thru the network, the
hourglass locks up. When I go into Task Manager to "end process", and click on
'end process', I get a pop-up message which says:  "Program cannot be closed.
If it being debugged, please resume it or close debugger."

A little more info:
From the 'problem' computer where I'm unable to open a Word doc located on
