File Sharing (invalid Host name)

Hi
When i try to see the shared files on my windows xp on my windows vista by
going throught start > Network the windows xp computer shows but when i
double click it it says check the spelling then when i lcick to try and
resolve it it then says invalid host name my windows xp computer name is
NORTONFAMILY but my windows vista name is JORDAN-PC any help?

Welcome to the forum.

Your problem, when reported here (and it does get reported here a lot), is
usually caused by a misconfigured personal firewall, or the NetBT setting is
inconsistently set on the computers. Read my articles, and follow the links in
the articles, for explanations, please.

Or we could look at the logs from "browstat status" and "ipconfig /all", from
each computer, so we can diagnose the problem. Read this article, and linked
articles, and follow instructions precisely (download browstat!):

Yes !!
I worked it out how to get vista to see the shared files of my windows xp.
After putting the workgroup right and getting the addon from windows xp to
be seen on my network all i had to do is allow my vista to connect to the
computer but adding a trusted ip of my vista in the Norton Firewall on the xp
