Hi,

Sorry for the 10 billionth post about xp file sharing but i'm stuck.

I'm trying to share a file with permissions to just 1 person on our
home lan (4 of us all runnin xp pro)

I go to set the permissions and remove the everyone bit and click add,

I then try and enter his computer name etc and it wont have it, I then
try and click on the from locations box and only my pc is there. I
basically cant seem to direct windows file permissions to a user on
the network, but i can to my pc, a user on it or everyone.

Network was installed via the wizard, can see all computers in
workgroup so everythin seems to be ok and workin.

Arrgh, windows 98 was so easy!

Any help would be much appreciated, thanks, Jon

The guy you would like too share the file with must have
an account on your local machine. Windows maps users from
other machines to local users on the machine where you
have the resource you want to share. The user id:s must
be the same on both machines.

Regards
Ulf
