File & Settings Transfer...

I have a couple of computers I need to replace & am on kind of a short
time frame.
Normally, I would run the file & settings transfer wizard, save to an
external drive & import file on the new computer.
I have noticed that this can take an extremely long time, sometimes.
What can I do (pick & choose files? delete files before running wizard
on old computer?) to speed this process up?
