I am have been trying to install "File Services for
Macintosh" component and keep getting the following error
message:

"An error occurred which prevented the File Services for
Macintosh from being installed or removed. The error was
0x80070005"

It installs up to the point of "Configuring Management and
Monitoring Tools", and then it bombs out with the above
error message. I just did a fresh install two weeks ago,
and the same thing happened. I had it working once about
a 1 year ago and it worked for about 5 minutes until I had
to reboot, then the component was missing. Even on a
fresh boot I can't install it? Maybe that part of the CD
the drive can't read? Everytime I select the component
from Add/Remove Components, the A: drive grinds, and
grinds again when it bombs out.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi !
Well, not sure exactly what is happening but I do have a suggestion.

If the install is always bombing at "Configuring Management and Monitoring
Tools".
The when you do the install of SFM, there is also a components section for
Management and Monitoring Tools. Check the detials on these, it is
basically Network Monitor and Connection Manager(CMAK).
If you don't need any of these components, the deselect the "Configuring
Management and Monitoring Tools" from installing. If you do need any one
of these components. I would still deselect them from installing, then go
back after SFM install and select the individual component you need in
"Configuring Management and Monitoring Tools" and install it as well. If
you need them all, the install them one at a time to see if you can which
one is actually causing the problem.

Hope this Helps!
