James, I can e-mail you my file server documentation if you'd like. I
won't post it in the NG because it's binary and a Word document to boot.
Let me know if you want me to e-mail it to you.
Dear Ricardo,
Thank You very much for the file you have sent me, it is simple-easy
to
use-compact and the most of all, you have everything what you need. I
owe you big time, really.
Do You know by any chance where i can find similar file for the
Windows
2000 server acting as Domain Controller, DNS server, WINS server, etc.
Actually i have in the server room 3x Windows 2000 based Servers
(2xDC,
1XStandalone), 1 NT 4.0 Based Server and one UNIX.
I don`t have problems setting up and installing Windows 2K/NT
Server/Workstation, W98 operating systems, setting up hardvare and
software, installing, configuring and maintenancig email servers
(exchange, mdaemon, slmail, visnetic, etc) but when it comes to the
point where i need to document server enviroment and to make
documentation which will be easy to maintain, i have problem, i can
not do it.
It is not that i did not try to do it, i have tryed. I spent a lot of
time and i`m talking about hours, days, weeks creating so called
documentation but after i finish document and after i revise it, this
is not this. Or it has too many pictures or is not maintenace friendly
and allways there is something.
I hope that you have understood my situation, I like my job, i like
setting up servers and supporting 4 servers and 60 workstations i have
in my company but i have a problem documenting server enviroment.
That would be all, If you know by any chance where i can find similar
or same kind of documentation for the Windows 2000 Domain Controller
with Active Directory i would be gratefull to you, what i allready am.
Thank you once more for the document, it is great.
