When I use the File/Send To/Mail Recipient (As Attachment) in Word, the
Outlook message window appears. That's fine. However, when I try to minimize
the the message window and go into Outlook (to look at an appointment, to
start a separate new message, to read a message that has just come in, etc.),
it won't let me do this. Can anyone tell me how to make this work? Or will I
just have to start a new message in Outlook and then attach the file to it?

I'm using Outlook 2003.

Thanks!
DS

Use a different method: Create the message, then attach the file. The method you're using creates a message window that is modal to Outlook -- in other words, it blocks all Outlook functionality.

Thanks, Sue. Will do.

Is there any way to use the Send To shortcut without having this issue ?
I have the problem with an external program (Microsoft Dynamics AX) that
generates a pdf file and attach it to a mail in outlook. I don't save the pdf
file, I just want to send it from Outlook.
Usually, I have to look at the contacts in Outlook, or at a previous mail,
to personalize the answer and as this message window is modal, I can't do
that.

Any idea ?

Thanks !

How is this helpful? Change your work practices because the program isn't
smart/ powerful enough to do what the USER wants! Maybe M$ should get more
feedback and test their products more to find out what the end user wants to
be able to do...

You thought any of the original participants in the OVER 4 YEAR OLD thread
was still waiting for your response? Next time look at the datestamps

No one here knows what you're referencing. You did not quote any of the
previous thread.
