file renaming bug?

When renaming a group of files (namely music files), I
select all and rename the first one with the naming
convention "name(1)", and the rest of the files
automatically names the corresponding files 2,3,4....
which is what I want and this is good. BUT, when I try
accessing the files for let's say a cd burner, the first
file ("name(1)") is always at the end of the list. So the
list starts at "name(2)". Is this a bug in MS OS, and
what can I do to fix it permanently?

Hi,

I can't confirm that this is a bug, however I'm aware of
the problem and have a permanent solution.

Select All files and Rename the batch "Name", rather than
renaming "Name(01)".

This will rename the batch as follows:

Name
Name(1)
Name(2)
Name(3)

FYI: You will notice that whenever you rename any batch of
files "Name(01)", when you return to the original location
of the files they appear as follows:

Name(2)
Name(3)
Name(1)

Therefore, I'm inclined to think this is not a bug as it
seems to be a consistent and logical equation in terms of
the way files are grouped.

Hope this helps,

Ryan.

Ryan;

After I sort thumbnails the way
I want them, I batch rename like you do.
Then I rename the first one:
Name (0)
So it will appear first before:
Name (1)

Otherwise Name ends up being the last file.
