I have tried safe mode, I get the same prompt, tried renaming it, tried
moving it.. and it is refusing to budge. I tried logging off and quickly
before programs load, tried to delete it.. and it still won't! I even tried
to change attributes, and got the same prompt.. any ideas appreciated...
thanks Rainy

It's no longer an issue.. I decided to try and delete the whole folder and
it deleted.. very strange! thanks anyway.. Rainy ps. the file that
wouldn't delete was a rar i no longer needed..

If you use p2p programs you might find that a file won't delete/move etc
because someone is downloading it from you. Other problems occur if the file
is in some way active when you're trying to remove it. I use an app called
MoveOnBoot to move or delete pesky files. A google search should give you a
free download

Hi, what's a p2p program... ? If it is a file sharing program, no I don't
file share if that is what you are talking about.. just seems to be a quirk
in windows XP.. and they "microsoft" set it up so it waits before beeping at
you .. I think they like scaring you.. :) The folder was one I put on my
desktop with a Rar inside.. after I installed contents of the Rar, I no
longer needed it and was trying to delete it.. thanks for the response..

Yes p2p means "person to person" file sharing.
When you installed the program did you extract the contents from the .RAR to
a directory and then install from there or did you simply open the .RAR and
run setup without extracting it first? It could be possible that, if you
didn't extract first, the running program is looking for the RAR file.
