Columns can be set to display chosen properties - but this has do be done for
each folder.
(Select "More" from menu after R-click in column-headers bar, tick and move
required columns).
I have tried to "globalise" such a setting ("Customise" folder) but it doesn't
work even for subfolders.

Extra information entered in Properties such as Title, Summary, is copied to
another drive but the display setting of the folder is not. That has to be
re-set in the copy. It would be nice if the default display could be changed.

It would also be nice if similar information could be added to the properties of
sub-folders.

Why is it possible for files to show date created later than date modified?

Grateful for advice. Now using Win-XP-Pro, fully updated.
Yours hopefully, -

Theo Tulley.

Did you read help on customizing folders
To make all folder views the same

1.. Open a folder and select a folder view.
For help with selecting a folder view, see Change how you view items in a folder.

2.. On the Tools menu, click Folder Options.
3.. On the View tab, click Apply to All Folders.
Note

a.. To reset all folders to the settings that were in effect when Windows XP was installed, click Reset All Folders.
Windows works with what it has got. Zip files only store modified date.

Also if you move a file the date both create and mod stay the same (as it is the same file). If you copy it the Create Date will change as it is a new file but it mod date stays the same as it was last modified on that date. While moving doesn't change the dates, it has to remain within a MS network environment.

Very many thanks -
I hadn't previously noted Folder Options in the Tools menu.
I see that the pattern of columns, selected in one folder and "applied to all",
now appears in the folder "Local disk C:\" so it's effectively global.
Now I have successfully copied a small file with Comments to a second HDD - the
display is complete. Whoopee!

Yours sincerely, -

Theo Tulley.
