Robert

Hi,

I have just reinstalled Windows XP Home.

Some files in my (download) folder show the generic Windows exe icon,
instead of the associated icon.
When I try to open these files Windows complains about file permissions.
Also, when I delete one of those files, than switch folders, than switch
back, the supposedly deleted file is back again.

Anyone know why this is and what I can do about it?

I am logged on as the only user.

Hi Robert,

By reinstalling, you removed the old user profiles. Problem is, those files
are "owned" by those deleted profiles. You need to "take ownership" of them,
