file order scrambled in application dialog box

Hi,
XP started doing this weird thing. When I pick OPEN or SAVE AS (or some
similar file function) in an application, the dialog box pops up wth a
file tree. The flies and folders in the tree are not sorted by name,
they appear to be ordered with the most recently created file or folder
first. All of the non-MS apps do it. What gives? How do I repair this?

Slap yourself. Hard.
If that doesn't help, repeat until it does.
