Outlook 2002, sp2 on Windows nt sp6a desktop, exchange
server.

A user has an outdated "link" to another user's folder
which we want to remove.

When she clicks File-Open from the main Outlook screen,
below the line following the normal three options
(selected items, other user's folder, outlook data file),
she has this bad link. It's bad because something about
the user's account was changed, and she gets an error when
she tries to open it from there.

When she went through the process of opening his folder
again, it resolved to his correct info, and the folder
opened. But now she has the same folder listed twice, and
we can't figure out how to get rid of the bad listing.

I believe you can wipe that entire MRU from the menu by deleting the following registry value

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows Messaging Subsystem\Profiles\<<UserProfileName>>\0a0d020000000000c000000000000046\101f039

Always backup the registry key before deleting (JIC). This is where my OL 2003 stores that MRU info, I believe the value may be slightly different in previous versions.

Like, OMG, this is the first time I've gotten an answer in
these newsgroups, and even better - IT'S CORRECT!

As far as I'm concerned, you may take the rest of the day
off - you've earned your keep!
