When using IE6 I usually open new sites by going to File
Open and typing in the address. Every once in a while I
use a cache and cookie washer to clear my temp files,
delete address etc. I also use the tools in Internet
Options to delete the history, etc.

But none of these seem to clear all the address' from the
drop down list of the Open box.

Has anyone got any ideas how I can get rid of these rogue
address'

Hi David,
this will clear that section and other lists, like recent doc's etc.
I use it regularly with no ill effects.
Start>settings>taskbar & start menu>start menu programs tab>doc's menu>hit
'clear'>ok.
HTH?

Open IE Tools > Options > Clear History

If this dint help, open regedit.exe and delete this key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\TypedURLs

mac,

You're taking a stab at guessing his OS?

FWIW I do remember having a Settings menu item with my NT4 + WDU.
but my XP doesn't have that Start menu item.

Actually, I was surprised recently to find that using Clear History
(from the Internet Properties tool while iexplore.exe was not active)
was apparently sufficient to clear more than just the History folder.
I didn't take very careful note of what all was reset but I know for sure
that TypedURLs was hit. I can't remember exactly but I think that the
Run... MRU list also got clobbered at the same time.

Without knowing the OS I'd refer him to Mike Burgess' delcache page.
