When I try to open an existing file using the icon or at the task bar "Open" I get "An unexpected error message I/O 6 and the file will not open. I can open the files when I go to My documents and double clike. What gives??

I had that problem happen at a client's office about a month ago. The Admin
guy had to reinstall Office for me. I was running PowerPoint 2000 on
Windows XP. Don't know if that had anything to do with it, but it happend
after I crashed PowerPoint while embedding a Flash object I think....

You might want to have a look here.

"An unexpected error occurred - I/O Error 0" or "An unexpected error occurred -
I/O Error 6"

I don't know if this will work, or if this is your
problem. Try right clicking that file that you are
opening, and chane what you are opening the program in.
It will say open with. or if it is stored on your desk
top right click, and go to properties, and change open
in. Just a thought. It helped me with something , but
may not you. Your cool... what gives...
