"~" file on my desktop

This file appeared on my desktop. I have recently installed AVG
Antivirus, Zone Alarm, Lavasoft Ad Aware 6, Adobe Reader, Zip Reader
and and Ahead Nero. Any ideas where it could have come from or how I
can try to track its source? It is a 176KB file and I have put it in
the trash with no ill effect. Still, I am curious...
