Just scanning some more boxes of slides and decided that I don't really have
a good file naming scheme for my scanned images - or organization, for that
matter. So I thought it might be an idea to see what others do.

Some of my pictures are stored in individual folders for each film, simply
naming each file 01.jpg, 02.jpg, etc. and naming the folder with the date.
But that can lead to duplicates. Others I've named by date.

Any ideas?

Peter.

My filing system is Notebooks and plastic photo/negative/slide sheets.
I use ThumbsPlus Pro for my Photo database program. My Image files are on
Offline CDs and Hard disks.

Each notebook is a one and 1/2 inch three ring binder. Each Book is numbered
The Color Negative film strips are filenamed Roll001Framenn to
Roll999Framenn each frame is the two digit number& letter on the film strip.

The B&W Negatives are in a separate group of notebooks. Each book is
numbered. Filenames BWRoll01Fnn to BWRoll99Fnn where nn is the frame number
on the film.

Slides are in separate Notebooks, each Book is numbered, filenamed
Roll001Fnn to Roll999Fnn where nn is the frame number on the slide. Each
roll is 20 to 36 frames.

Color Negatives are cataloged in galleries named Notebook01 thru Notebook99,
each Roll of Film is cataloged in a sub-gallery of the Notebooknn Gallery.

B&W Negatives are cataloged in BWNegatives Gallery with sub-gallery of
BWRolls.
Slides are cataloged in Gallery Slides/Bookn/Rollnnn where n or nnn is a one
or three digit number.
