In windows 2000 Server, in the registry, Under the HKey
Local Machine, Software key, the Classes folder was
deleted, and recovered but now when going into My
computer, Windows Explorer or Internet Explorer, the File
menu is disabled.Did deleting the Classes Key cause this
problem and how do i get the file menu back or enbabled?

If you "recovered" it by REG file, all the security is missing or
incorrect.

Fully replacing the SOFTWARE hive file from backup would be
"cleanest" and reasonably straightforward. You do have a recent
backup I hope.

Alternatively Saving the branch to a binary file (w security) from a
recent backup, then overwriting the "live" clases key may be
possible. Or it may be impossible because portions are in use. I've
never dealt with such a case.

I suggest you post more information and get feedback before
proceding.

I also suggest that whoever did this on a Server should be restricted
from access there.
