Is there a program for Vista similar to the old File Manager
(winfile.exe) program from the Windows 3.1 days that will work with
Windows Vista? Looking for something simple and easy to use.

Please do not tell me how easy Explorer is. It may be but I am asking
if there a program for Vista similar to the old File Manager
(winfile.exe) program from the Windows 3.1 days that will work with
Windows Vista?

TIA

You *might* be able to use file manager for NT4...
I have tried it on both Win2k and XP and it works.

File manager from any win9x version will of course *not* work.

I have a Vista test install I can try it on and post back with the results
if you don't want to try the
experiment yourself.

You might want to look at PowerDesk Pro 6. It works well with Vista, at
least for the week I've had it installed. I've used it in all Windows
versions except 3.1. Puts Explorer to shame.

Tried it. It did *not* work...so skip that idea !
I guess you'll need a third party manager you like better

Likewise I'm using under VISTA ExplorerPlus which used to be the
alternative version of PowerDesk carried on by the original Mijenix
developers -- but that seems to have disappeared from the market -- it
went to some photo company at one point.
