file last access time 12:00Am

I encountered an old Windowns 2000 system installed in 1999 and all the last
files access time of different dates were all 12:00:00 AM. I wonder if this
is due to a bug. Is there an explanaion to this?
 
the system has a total of 63,313 files of various date and time of Creation /
Modified but only the access time are all 12:00:00 AM! Every files. Not many
people are bothered with the files date and time stamp - but this is really
unually. This cannot be a coincident. Thanks anyway.

I agree it isn't coincidence. More likely hardware failure related or
possible file system corruption.
