Recently I received an e-mail from a friend concerning a
virus. The file was "jdbe.exe" and apparently is
transferred as an add-on by sending an e-mail. Apparently
McAfee and Norton Anti-virus packages do not detect it.
Is this a virus or a regular software file?

jdbe.exe? Are you sure it wasn't jbdgmgr.exe? If that's the case fire up
your browser and head over to google and do a search for that file name.
For that matter do a search here, I'm sure an answer will turn up for
you.

This is a very old HOAX, jdbe.exe is used for programing
java applets. If your friend deleted this file on his
computer and he/she is not a programmer they wont even
notice that it is gone.
www.kellys-korner.com has a replacement file for this
under the xp tweaks section
