File info

How do I find a file type? I got an attachment sent to me and it wont
open--create an association i the Folder Options control panel etc........I
cant find what sort it is to create??

But I'm concerned. If you don't even know what kind of file is being
attached in the first place, why would you want to chance opening it? It
could very well be malicious (i.e., like a virus).
 
This helped thanx.The file is RA.PPS . When the box can up at first click to
download it I unticked the little box that says ''Always ask before opening
this file type''....Is there a download for this??
 
The file is a PowerPoint Show. You can download a free PowerPoint viewer from the Microsoft web
site.
