How to I change the icon for a file? I want to change it for 1 specific file
only, not all files of a given type, like .txt, etc. Is this possible?

I would also like to know what the the standard color bit depth and
resolution is. i.e. 266 colors and 60 x 60 pixels @ 72 dpi etc.

Hi Ryan,

This is not possible natively. Windows allows you customize the icons on a
filetype basis. To customize the icons on a per-file basis, one has to use a
third-party software, or write a custom icon handler shell extension to
accomplish the task.

You'd like to try this software:

Icon Changer seems to be working, but I don't know what file format or name
to give to the file I created in photoshop so that it will be recognized by
Icon Changer.
I want to create my own icon, not pick 1 from the list.

Can I save a jpeg (.jpg) file and rename it with the extention for icons in
windows? I don't know what the name of the extention for icons in windows is
or if the icon files are saved in this way in windows.

You can use a bitmap file as an icon. Simply create your own bitmap file,
the .bmp may be any size but the better size is 32x32 (or your custom
desktop icon size). Rename it to a file with an .ico extension. Windows
automatically recognizes that you want to use the bitmap image as an icon (t

Sory I only remeber the 1 about the script to bring up the shut down windows
box. Is this the post u r reffering 2? If so, yes I got it.

Yes. What I said was you don't need the icon changer utility. You can
right-click the shortcut (to the JS file) and change the icon in shortcut
Properties.
