File handles not released by Explorer

I continually am unable to delete files or folders. On
investigation I find that Explorer has the file handle. If
I use Process Explorer to close the handle I can delete
the file. I have the latest service pack and updates.

Can this be resolved by any means as it is time consuming
closing the handles manually.

What OS is this? Are the files stored locally on the machine or remotely
via UNC or mapped net drive?

Who does Process Explorer say has the handle open?
