File Extension

I want to delete a file extension association w/a program.
In XP one had the option to delete it, in Vista does not give you a choice
and I cannot do it.
Any tricks or way to delete the extension?

What I want to do is delete a file association to solve a problem I have w/a
file
in XP was easy, Vista sucks
