File exported from Outlook 2000 won't open in 2002

Curious, if anyone else is running into problems when
trying to use .pst files between Outlook 2000 and Outlook
2002.

If I export a file from 2000 and try to open it in 2002,
I get the message about "the file is not a personal file
folder (.pst)". The only way I can get the file to be
readable in both versions is by using the "Backup" option
under "File". If I backup the .pst, it can be opened or
imported into both versions.

I just think this is quite an inconvenience when I used
to be able to freely open or export the .pst files before.

How do you try to access the file? Make sure you have read/write access to
it (check both NTFS permissions as the "Read Only" file property)

I try doing FILE/OPEN and I've also tried to import
the .pst. I have checked to make sure it is not "Read
Only." Not sure what you mean by NTFS permissions.

NTFS are the file permissions. I assume you have a dual boot-PC? Are you
trying to open the pst-file from the other version directly from the other
partition? If so; better is to create a location where both accounts from
both Windows versions have read/write access to and store the pst-file
there.

So it would become something like this;
C:\ Windows version 1
D:\ Windows version 2
E:\ Data

No...I'm talking about 2 separate PCs. One has Outlook
2000 and the other has Outlook 2002.

How do you try to access the pst-file? Over the network by means of a
networkshare (not supported by Microsoft but nevertheless it should work)?
Please note that a pst-file can only be opened by one instance of a time and
when you disconnect the pst-file you'll need to restart Outlook to actually
free the lock on the file.
