Hi. My file explorer is defaulting all of my folder to music properties,
even in my My Pictures directory. I can remove the music properties by
right clicking on the columns, but I can't get properties, like "photo
taken" to appear. What I really want is to change all the folder in My
Pictures to have the photo properties including all the subdirectory
folders.

thx.

Try this, maybe it will restore the option:

go to...Start / Run and type:

"REGSVR32 SHIMGVW.DLL"
(without the quotes)(Yes, there's
a space between 2 and S)

Click...OK.

A dialog box should report the following:

"DllRegisterServer in SHIMGVW.DLL succeeded"

Thanks, that restored the options. Is there a way to change all the folders
to have those properties instead of manually removing from each folder and
removing the music properties and adding in the picture properties?

I'm sorry but I am not aware of an option
that will allow any type of a batch process
to change folder customizations from music
to pictures.

Maybe the following articles will be useful:

(812003) How to modify your folder view
settings or to customize a folder
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=812003

(813711) Your view settings or customizations
for a folder are lost or incorrect

You can download TweakUI from the following site.
It has an option to increase Folder Customizations

Windows XP PowerToys / free download
