File Explorer Locks Up Opened

Hi

I have advanced server 2000 with all the fixins'

When i open File Explorer it shows
Mycomputer/drivename/documents/admin/startup
etc...

and then it instantly locks up. just that window..not
windows. And idle process is at 99%.

I can use "my computer" to navigate as long as i dont hit
the FOLDERS button and display the tree. When I display
the tree and search on the C drive it locks up again. I
can however Tree the other slave drives.

also when using some programs and I hit the 'browse'
button as well.. it seems like something with the tree.

Please Help
 
What happens if you don't use right-click on Start button but hit Win+E or
open MyComputer?
