In teh windows xp help and support section, it tells you
how to encrypt files and folders. But to do this you
must click the advanced tab in the files properties.
right click(on desired file)> properties> general tab>
advanced>, however the advanced button is not visible.
How can i access this option?

(by the way, i'm running xp pro, and am the administrator)

Hi Matthew,

Are you using the FAT32 or the NTFS file system?

I think you need to turn off Simple File Sharing which is enabled by default
in XP when using NTFS. If you have fat32 it doesn't apply but you don't
have the security features either.

Open Windows Explorer, go to Tools, select Folder Options, scroll to "Use
Simple File Sharing," remove the check and click apply and ok.
