I just recently had a computer crash (Win2000 Pro) and I had to re-install
windows. I had some files that were encrypted and saved to the second hard
drive on the computer. Now these files are inaccessible. I cant remove the
encryption attribute, I keep getting errors. Is there a way to access these
files or am I screwed?

Thanks!
Paul

Your most direct route is to restore the system from backup, if you
do not have usable exported EFS key of the encrypting account or
or the default recovery agent.

If you go the restore route, it needs to be a system state restore so
the the original system is reconstructed to include the old accounts.

try: http://www.elcomsoft.com/aefsdr.html

you need to know the username and the password of the user who
encrypted the files
