I have FrontPage 2002. It was Pre-loaded when I
purchased my Dell computer. when I double click on the
frontpage icon, it takes me to a file called BIN and says
that the file is empty.

How do I redownload this software?

Unfortunately, there's no real way to know what Dell actually loaded or how
they loaded it. You'll need to contact Dell first to determine how to get it
back as it will be specific to the Dell computer.

Hope this helps,

What you have is an empty FrontPage "shell"
that was probably created as part of an "Office"
install. You will need to purchase FrontPage and
install it.

Unfortunately for me, I paid for support til 2005, but
when I call them, they tell me to pay $29 for an answer
to where I might find the software and redownload it.

If I put in the XP disc, can I download it from there?

Is is part of Windows XP?

Apparently, I only had 30 days of "software" support
(even though they pre-loaded it) BUMMER

Normally, you receive program CDs when you get bundled software with
your computer. Are you sure you didn't get a FrontPage CD in the box?

FrontPage is not part of XP. FrontPage is a program. XP is an operating
system.

Hope this helps.

Well, that figures, doesn't it?
I have a microsoft works suite, but it doesn't say
anything about front page on the box.
So, I suppose I am going to have to bite the bullet and
pay Dell AGAIN to find out where that stuff is, huh?
Man, they kill me!

Dell only load Works, they do not load Office or Frontpage as standard.
If you want these programmes, you will have to purchase them separately.

Frontpage is part of Office Professional or is sold standalone. So you will
either have disk called Office XP Professional or Frontpage 2002. If you
don't have either, it isn't installed. For some reason the folder Frontpage
gets set up by some MS Office programs (I have seen it autoinstalled but the
software isn't there). You will either need to by Frontpage or get the
version of Office that has Frontpage.

But look at "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\FRONTPG.EXE". If it
isn't there, then you don't have it

The answer is buried in Mona's response. She has Works Suite, not Office.
She does not have FrontPage from Dell. My question to Mona is "Did you tell
your salesperson that you wanted/needed FrontPage?" If not, then you only
have yourself to blame. I know that's rough but sometimes reality sucks.

And as for your support, you have three years TECH support, not software
support. They would help you with technical issues such as hardware problems
but they will charge you to teach you how to do something with your
applications. That's common. Generally, the larger computer manufacturers
have some sort of program available for purchasing software support time.
Kind of like a phone card. (A kind tech may help you with a minor software
issue for free but don't count on that.)

Unless you purchased FP, you don't have FP. There is a FP folder created by
default with any Windows XP or Office XP install, but you have to purchase
FP to have it.

FrontPage is not a part of Microsoft Works.

To save money calling Dell, don't call their tech support. Call their
SALES department, make believe you want to order exactly the same
computer you've got, and ask them what software comes bundled with it.
Just a thought.
