When I try to open a file from email or the internet the dialog box only
gives the options to "Find" "Save" or "Cancel". I do not get the option to
"Open" the files. This mainly occurs with Word, Excel and Powerpoint. Do you
have any suggestions on how I can open them without first having to save to
my computer.

Thank you,

This is a good thing!

My suggestion is to leave it this way. After you download the file, then
you should scan it for viruses. Much safer this way. :-)

Mark,
I appreciate your assistance, but there is not an option to "unblock".
There is only an "ok" and "cancel" option.

I am in the same boat, and it is driving me crazy. I am a fulltime student
who looks at a ton of pdf articles and I do not what to save all of them
before viewing them. The problem started recently. I have right clicked on
the downloadable files to unblock in properties as suggested, but I am not
given that option. I have explored IE's options and settings (as well as
Foxfire's) and cannot locate a method to change the dialog box back to
open/save. I await with GS for any help on this issue.

Thanks,
DB

Hi GS,

Like you, I noticed that find resulted in Windows idea of what software will
read the file. So, since my problems were with pdfs, I uninstalled and
reinstalled Adobe Reader. That corrected my problem. Try it with your
Office suite?

DB,

Thanks for the suggestion! I will try it at my first opportunity.

I appreciate your assistance.
