What happens exactly is this. The email comes in and the picture is opened
in the preview pane. If I want to open in PSP I click on the paper clip the
drop down box contains jpg and Save attachments.click on the jpg and on my
other PC using W98SE it opens up the pic in PSP. On my laptop it then shows
me the File Download box. Open is available as is Cancel and More
information but the Save box is greyed out and also Always ask before
opening this type of file has a tick against it but is also greyed out, so I
cant uncheck it.

Lynn,
Do you still get the Save As dialog box? instead of IE opening the file..
Try the JPG association fix from Doug Knox's site:
http://www.dougknox.com/xp/file_assoc.htm
If not, open Registry Editor and goto:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileEx
ts\.jpg]
Backup the key and delete it. See if the issue is resolved.

Tied that Ramesh, didn't work. Presumed I did it right, I scrolled down to
jpg and unchecked the Confirm Open after download box.

Lynn
Lynn,
Control Panel > Folder Options > File Types.
Select the File Type and change the option "Confirm Open after download"
accordingly

For the most security, make sure the Always ask before opening this type of
file check box is selected. If you feel confident that this type of file or
program is always safe to open or run directly from the Internet, make sure
this check box is cleared.
Can anyone tell me where this setting is. I think this is 'checked' and I
want to clear it but can't find it.
