Hi, I use an application that on startup downloads a *.jlnp file from
the internet. This works fine on a w2k server but on our newly
installed 2003 servers we are always asked to confirm that we want to
download & save the file. Where can i change this please?

Kind Regards

Steve

You set this for each file type, e.g. for .zip
Explorer-View-Folder Options-File Types
Find the .zip association (may be WinZip File)
Edit, (or click Advanced on ME or XP) and check (or uncheck) the
"Confirm open after download" box

The path to Folder Options may vary according to your operating
system. It may be:
Explorer-View-Folder Options
Explorer-Tools-Folder Options
Start-Settings-Folder Options
Start-Settings-Control Panel-Folder options.

Hi Alan, thanks for the reply, I have changed the setting you mentioned
& it has helped in that after the file has been downloaded we no longer
have to confirm that we also want to to open (run) it but we are still
getting the inital box when clicking on the application

File Download

Do you want to save this file?

Name : *.jlnp

Type : JNLP File, 835 bytes
From : *.com

Save Cancel

Sadly, in any OS I am familiar with, you cannot have it both ways.
I can either get the prompt to save or have it open.
I don't follow what you mean by "clicking on the application"
What application are you clicking on?
I thought you were downloading.

As I don't know either OS that you mention, perhaps someone in those
groups may have a solution?

No worries Alan, thanks for the help. It is a Reuters web based
application, you logon, install java & then click 'run' which then
downloads the jlnp file & the application opens up your desktop. In w2k
you don't get prompted at all, but in 2003 for some reason you do.

I have posted this on the 2003 group as you suggested & have a call
open with Reuters.

Kind regards,

Steve
