Does IE6 not recognize some files in downloading from a webpage? I created a link on my webpage to an AutoCad file stored on my host server. IE did did not recognize the file when I downloaded it to my harddrive. It converted the file extension from "dwg" to an "html" and viewed the file as text in another browser window

When testing other files such as pdf, exe, etc. they downloaded correctly via dialog inerface to my harddrive respectively. Does anyone have and explaination for this?

Try this for your type of file. (.dwg)

You set this for each file type, e.g. for .zip
Explorer-View-Folder Options-File Types
Find the .zip association (may be WinZip File)
Edit, (or click Advanced on ME or XP) and check the "Confirm open
after download" box

The path to Folder Options may vary according to your operating
system. It may be:
Explorer-View-Folder Options
Explorer-Tools-Folder Options
Start-Settings-Folder Options
Start-Settings-Control Panel-Folder options.
