File Download errors

T

Tom

We have a link to a wpd document on our intranet. Works
fine for all users but one. They have XP sp2 loaded and
when they click on the link they get the File Download
screen which shows the correct filename but the File Type
is listed as ActiveXPlugin Object instead of WordPerfect.
If you select to open the file or save it the following
error pops up: Internet Explorer cannot download
example.wpd. Internet Explorer was not able to open this
Internet site.
It's not a file association error and we have tried
setting all security to the low level. Any ideas on what
is causing this before we blow away the pc and load from
scratch?

Are you saying that this is not the issue?

You set this for each file type, e.g. for .zip
Explorer-View-Folder Options-File Types
Find the .zip association (may be WinZip File)
Edit, (or click Advanced on ME or XP) and check the "Confirm open
after download" box

The path to Folder Options may vary according to your operating
system. It may be:
Explorer-View-Folder Options
Explorer-Tools-Folder Options
Start-Settings-Folder Options
Start-Settings-Control Panel-Folder options.

Correct. That is not the problem.
