You don't mention what software is being used to download, but it is
probably trying to protect you...

Opening an .exe (executable) file without first saving it, and checking
for a virus, is a dangerous proposition...and is not good practice.

1) Lose the caps - it's considered yelling, is incredibly rude and makes
your posts incredibly hard to read.

2) That box is unavailable for damn good reason. Executables can harbour
viruses, unchecking it would automatically run the program - is that
*REALLY* what you want?!

The program is an executable that runs from the local file server when the user logs on to the network. some machines dont prompt the user and others do. If they choose cancel it can cause corruption in a sql database since certain files do not get updated. this program is not from the internet and users are blocked from downloading anything from the internet via proxy server so this is not a security violation. the box is greyed out and cannot be unchecked. It only occured on machines that were installed from a microsoft system builder cd. sorry about the caps. And yes I do want to uncheck this box.

What part of "you cannot" are you having problems understanding?
