File & Directory deletion

There are 3 directoris on my system that will not allow me to delete them.
When I try, I get an error message stating that they cannot be deleted
because the system cannot read the source or disk. This is my hard drive, and
the problem exists nowhere else. The directories are empty. I believe I may
need to edit the Windows Explorer entries, but I don't know where to find
them. Thanks in advance!
