Windows xp in the view mode allows you to choose details related to your
files. Once you make a new choice they do not tell you how to enter the
information on the newly chosen detail. Any help is appreciated.

You cannot enter any new information when details are selected. This info
here is a part of the file itself.

Same as in microsoft.public.windowsxp.help_and_support

You can only add information to comments. And some files will not let you
add any comments.

To add a comment to a file

1. Right-click a file.
2. Click Properties.
3. On the Summary tab, type your comment in the Comments area.
-or-

On the Summary tab, click Simple, and then type your comment in the
Comments area.

Notes
To display the comments you add to files, double-click the folder that
contains the files you want to view. On the View menu, click Choose Details,
and select the Comment check box, and then click OK. On the View menu, click
Details to see comments for several files at once, or select a file and
click Details in the left pane to view the comment for the selected file.

Jerry, I ust have done a poor job of explaining myself. I know it can be done
because I've done it before and have forgotten how I've done it. In the
choose detail dialog box, for instance you can choose "copyright" and if you
know how can enter copyright info. I forgotten how to do it and I need to
make contact with someone who knows. Thanks, Jim

You have to open the files properties.

Right click the file and select Properties. Click the Summary tab. You will see a list of items there.

Some of these items can be changed and some cannot, depending on the type of file and the way the files author intended it to be configured. To change an item, left click the item, move the cursor to the right past the items name and click again. This will give you a text entry box where you can input characters. Some items allow this and some do not.

If you choose the save the file(s) in a Zip or Rar archive, you can use
WinZip or WinRAR to add a comment to the archive.
