File dates change when copying

Just installed XP. When I copy my old data files to the new system, it changes the dates to today.
This is bad.
How can I get it to keep the old file dates and time?

Frustrated in New Jersey.

THey do have the three dates, but the "date modified" is not the date modified, but the date when I transferred it to the data drive
 
Because that IS the date you modified it. ie copied it.
