I have MS PowerPoint 2002 (10.4205.4219) SP-2, I have an Excel file that is linked with this PP file, and everytime I go to print the PP file out I get the message "File Name so & so could not be found. check the spelling of the file name & verify that the file location is correct......" I have physically recopied the linc over to the PP file......I have tried to Change the source under Edit Link to point the link to the right place....(It shows the correct file and location when I click on edit link), and it knows that eventhough the file can't be found that the file has Macros and that the file is also linked to another file....
Can someone please help me, it is positively driving me batty!

It shows every indication that it can find the file.....except that the message comes up and I have to click on it several times due to the number of times it is linked in the PowerPoint file

What is the exact link text?
Some things that can cause problems in one way or another, in one situation
or another:

Paths that are too long
Paths that include odd punctuation
Paths that include spaces

And I have to wonder whether something that prevents the file from opening
might also prevent the links from updating:

Password protected XLS file
XLS with macros + security settings that prevent files with macros from
opening

Hello,

Although not an answer to your question, it's clear from your description
that the existing tools for managing links in PowerPoint are insufficient
to resolve your problem.

If you (or anyone else reading this message) think that PowerPoint should
provide better tools for managing linked and embedded content (without have
to resort to VBA or 3rd party add-ins), don't forget to send your feedback
to Microsoft at:

http://register.microsoft.com/mswish/suggestion.asp

As with all product suggestions, it's important that you not just state
your wish but also why it is important to you that your product suggestion
be implemented by Microsoft. Microsoft receives thousands of product
suggestions every day and we read each one but, in any given product
development cycle, there are only sufficient resources to address the ones
that are most important to our customers so take the extra time to state
your case as clearly and completely as possible.

IMPORTANT: Each submission should be a single suggestion (not a list of
suggestions)
