File being created

I have a file that is being created automatically and being placed on the desktop. I am running WIN XP Pro and have all the critical updates loaded. It is not a big file 195KB and its name is "~". Only that symbol is its name. I have Microtrends PC-Cillin running and it has not found any virus hits.

I have no idea where it is coming from

Any advice as to where it is originating from. I also can fwd this file as attach if needed

Possibly caused by OE, I seem to recall an issue with OE whereby this file
was reated on the desktop - If so check OE updates
