I want to check file auditing settings. But the file
auditing tab is not available. My system is Windows 2000
Professional with NTFS file system and SP4.

Thanks

Frank

Does it not show in the advanced page from the general security page? If not what
does show there? --- Steve

Thanks for response. There are only Permissions and Owners
tabs. The Auditing tab was missing.

That is bizarre. I have never seen or heard of that. I have had the whole security
tab disappear on my XP Pro computer due to a problem with a security update and an
apparent conflict with Norton. If you want, you can try resting your security
settings to default defined levels as described in the KB link below to see if that
helps, which is pretty low risk unless you have customized a lot of user rights,
security options, and file/folder/registry permissions. Other things I try in
situations like that are to run System File Checker as in sfc /scannow or if I get
real desperate an in place upgrade install which keeps applications and data intact,
but requires that the service pack first be reapplied and then all critical updates.
See the links below if you want more info on those options. --- Steve
