Before I reformatted my hard drive and reinstalled
everything I could open jpg's with internet explorer.
Since reformatting they will open in Photoshop. I've
searched on Photoshop to find a place to not associate
them with that program but can't find it anywhere in
Photoshop. I have changed it in under "file types" in
windows explorer but it doesn't change anything. Any idea
what I'm missing. It's annoying (and time consuming) to
have to wait for Photoshop to open every time I try to
open a jpg file. Thanks

try this

open windows explorer and find a .jpg file

Hold down Shift and then right click on the file. The menu now has an extra
opion "Open With"

depending upon operating system you should be able to select "choose
program" or the choose program window will automatically open.
From here choose the right program either from the list or by clicking the
other buttonand finding the program. Check the box which says "Always use
this program to open these files" and then click OK.

You can use this method to change the association of any file type
