Where do I set file association. I want 'Word2007' to open WordPerfectFiles
I receive as attachments.

If you save the attachment first, either to your desktop or anywhere else
that you'll be able to find it, when you double-click the saved file you'll
be prompted for a program to open with it. Make sure you tick the "always
use this program" checkbox and then subsequent WordPerfect attachments will
open with Word automatically, without the need to save them first.

Ed,
You can accomplish this in the Control Panel/Default Programs. When you open
the Default Programs portion, you will see an entry titled "Associate a file
type or protocol with a program". Change it there.

I figured this out, but how do you take a file extension from the Default
Programs list? I have photos, .gif files, that won't animate without Internet
Explorer, but I don't want ALL .gif images to open with Internet Explorer.
Going to the "Set Default Programs" and "Associate a file" control panels
don't let me eliminate .gif extension from the list.

For all practical purposes you can't selectively make some files of
the same type be associated with different applications or none at all
unless you want to right click and use "open with" each time you
access the file which of course would be a royal pain in the butt.

A feature always missing from Windows is the ability to tell it to do
something specific to a FOLDER, not just a file regarding file
associations. That I think could be useful for some.
