File associations...

Under CONTROL PANEL|DEFAULT PROGRAMS|ASSOCIATE one can change an
association, but not delete it.

Where in the UI or registry is that now accomplished?
 
I am looking for an answer to a similar question:

Click START|HELP & SUPPORT and in the search box type "file association."
See if the wizards help you to accomplish the task.

Right click on the file .
Select "open with"
select the program from "installed programs list" choices or browse.
Be sure to tick the "always..." box
