I like using the "right click - OPEN WITH" command to select the relevant
program to open up graphics files. That way I get the right software
depending on what I am about to do with the file.

However, Microsoft Photo Editor does not appear on the list. It is on my
machine as it appears in the Start-Programs list under MS Office 97 and is
fully functional if selected from this list.

What do I have to do to get it to appear on the "Open With ..." list ??

Thanks in advance ...................... Steve

Steve,
use Registry Editor to solve your problem. Use Registry Editor at your own
risk.

Start > run >cmd enter>regedit enter

Create the following registry key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.XXX\OpenWithList

..XXX is the file extension for the file type you want to use in the OpenWith
menu. You can also delete and modify the OpenWithList via this method.
Simply search for this key using the extension of the type you want to adapt
or kill, then modify or delete it.

Right click a file, point to Open With and click Choose Program.
Click the Browse button to locate the program you want.
The program will be added to the Open With list.

Steve,

Right-click the "Microsoft Photo Editor" shortcut in the Start Menu and
choose Properties. You can locate the application name and Path there. Once
you find the target path, the follow Wesley's steps:

- - -
Right click a file, point to Open With and click Choose Program.
Click the Browse button to locate the program you want.
The program will be added to the Open With list.
- - -

If that does not help, then use my OpenWithAdd utility.

Steve,

I cannot find the name of the file for Microsoft Photo Editor.

One of these should find where Microsoft Photo Editor is located.

Start\All Programs\Microsoft Office\Microsoft Photo Editor. Right click
Microsoft Photo Editor | Click Properties | Click the Shortcut tab | Click
the Find Target button

Or, Start | Search | Files or Folders | Type or paste Microsoft Photo Editor
in the Search for files or folders named box | Click the Search Now button.

Microsoft Photo Editor was one of the Office shared tools and was installed
with the Office Suites and the individual Office programs. Microsoft Photo
Editor has been discontinued as a Microsoft Office component in Microsoft
Office 2003.

Microsoft Office Picture Manager 2003 is a new component in this release of
Office. While it is primarily a file management tool, and not an editing
tool, it does have some image correction and editing features.
