Much simpler is to just enclose a long URL in < > .
Like this

Your email program and news reader strip the < > , but the effect of
enclosing the URL when you post is to keep the link unbroken.

| If what you really meant to say is that you cannot run the downloaded
| .exe file, perhaps because it isn't your computer and you aren't logged
| in under an admin account. You'll have to ask the admin to do the
| install or up your privileges on the computer. "can't get it to open"
| says nothing about the actual error message that you get.
