File as

When I add a new contact it appears in the contact list with the "file as"
bar blank. The contacts that I have added sinse this problem started are all
at the beginning of the list in the order in which the were entered. I need
help!
 
If you open these Contacts, are their File As fields intact?
If so, you may have a damaged view. Try starting Outlook once with the
/cleanviews switch.
 
If I open these contacts the "file as" fields are intact. How do I start
Outlook with the /cleanviews switch.
 
I suspect you are toast unless you can tell us how your data file became
corrupted. Have you tried the Inbox Repair Tool?

I don't know how it got corrupted. The Inbox Repair Tool found nothing wrong.
In the navigation bar just above the working part of the window is a drop
down box for choosing folders. After choosing "Contacts" and the box
shrinks, The name "Contacts" remains but it is followed by "(blank) - Bak".
I don't know where this came from.

What does Folder View show? It displays your folder hierarchy.
Perhaps you are not displaying the correct Contacts Folder.
